{"id":289,"date":"2021-02-22T21:07:16","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T21:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/metajack.org\/blog\/?p=289"},"modified":"2021-02-22T21:07:16","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T21:07:16","slug":"booting-an-asus-x200ca-from-usb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metajack.org\/blog\/2021\/02\/22\/booting-an-asus-x200ca-from-usb\/","title":{"rendered":"Booting an Asus x200ca from USB"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Here is the procedure to boot an Asus x200 (x200ca in my case) from USB (ie. to install Linux on it).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While booting, press F2 to enter the bios<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to the &#8220;Security&#8221; tab and disable &#8220;secure boot&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the boot tab, enable CMS and Enable PXE boot<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the boot tab, disable fast boot<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In USB options, set all to enabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Save your change the press Esc while rebooting. A boot menu should appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This worked for me on bios version 300-something. A Youtube video implied that you needed version 500 or above on some x200 version. This was not the case for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was able to boot into a Manjaro Linux live distro on USB and everything worked great.
